My Arizona Journey in Healing & Adventure with Myofascial Release: by Stephie Reading :-)
Stephie living it up in the hot climes of Arizona!
Dear Friends at Holistic House,
I’ve just returned from a wonderfully thundery Arizona, and while the stunning desert landscape certainly left its mark, this trip was so much more than a scenic getaway. It was a leap of faith into the next chapter of my adventure as a Myofascial Release therapist. A journey of learning, growth, connection, and transformation that I’m incredibly excited to share with you.
During my time in Arizona I immersed myself in three advanced seminars that expanded not only my therapeutic toolbox, but made me even more in awe of the body’s remarkable ability to heal when given the right space and support.
Advanced MFR Training
The first course, Rebounding, introduced gentle, wave-like movements that engage the body’s natural rhythm, to help unwind tension that can be stuck deep within the fascial system. This work helps soothe the nervous system quickly to allow fascia to release more quickly in a session. It’s subtle but powerful and I love how it invites the body to shift without force.
Next came Quantum Leap, this course had some deep seated breakthroughs for me, helping tap into my intuitive awareness on a different level. A key aspect of this course involved something called pandiculation which is a deliberate and conscious act of stretching and contracting muscles. It’s something animals do instinctively but humans have forgotten this habit. Pandiculation taps into the body’s innate intelligence and is especially helpful for persistent pain, trauma, or mobility issues. It was both inspiring and grounding to witness the kind of transformation this level of presence can create.
We wrapped up with Fascial Cranium, a delicate and intricate approach focused on the head, jaw, and face. This course was a revelation. Not only in how effective the work is for clients dealing with TMJ, migraines, sinus congestion, and facial tension, but also for me personally. After receiving the work myself, I noticed visible changes in my own face: more freedom and less clicking for my own TMJ, more symmetry in my face, and a softer, more open expression and demeanour. It was wild to see how much tension we carry in the face and this was with only about 4 hours of work done on myself.
It is a requirement for every MFR therapist to receive the work on themselves, not only so we can feel what it’s like for our clients but also to release any tension we might not know we are carrying. Fascia exerts a force of 2000 pounds per square inch. Walking away from the course it’s incredible how I feel the lightest I’ve ever felt.
Since coming home, I’ve also noticed some other changes;
Sharper mental clarity, since landing back in the UK and with the change of season in full force, I normally have to resort to SAD lamps to boost my energy. I’ve noticed it’s easier for me to get up in the mornings, better digestion, and to my total surprise, a sore wrist that had been bothering me for a few months is completely pain-free. These shifts were such a powerful reminder that when we create space for healing, the body responds in ways we might never expect.
The Energy of Sedona
There’s a reason some of these courses are only held in Sedona in Arizona. There’s a different energy here than anywhere else in the world I’ve encountered and you can physically feel it.
Bell Rock is an iconic formation and a bit of a scramble to climb but completely worth it for the sweeping 360-degree views at the top. It was a place of both perspective and clarity, inside and out.
Hiking with some magical people to Devil’s Bridge was unforgettable, a trail through sunbaked sandstone and pine forest, ending in a stunning natural arch and a double rainbow!
Boynton Canyon offered a different kind of magic, lush, mysterious, and serene. Known as one of Sedona’s energy vortexes, this trail carried a peaceful, almost sacred energy that made it perfect for reflection and stillness.
I also made a side trip to Jerome, a once-thriving mining town now known as one of Arizona’s most famous ghost towns. Perched precariously on the side of a mountain, the town oozes spooky charm, complete with haunted hotels, creaky old saloons, and mysterious energy that you feel the moment you arrive.
We explored the eerie remains of the past, wandered through the narrow winding streets, and even heard a few ghost stories from the locals. Whether you believe in the paranormal or not, there’s no denying Jerome has a spirit of its own, a little creepy, a little mystical, and totally unforgettable.
One of the most meaningful parts of this journey was the people I shared it with. People travelled from all areas of the States to be there but people from Sweden, the Netherlands and even New Zealand made the incredible effort too! I had the joy of reconnecting with familiar faces from previous trainings and also met some truly inspiring new friends. There’s a special bond that forms when you learn, explore, and heal together and I’m so grateful for the laughter, support, deep conversations, and shared adventures that shaped this experience.
A Special Celebration at Holistic House
I’m especially excited to bring everything I’ve learned back to Holistic House, where I’m about to celebrate a full year of working with this beautiful, heart-centered team. As of October 24th, it will be exactly one year since I joined, and what an incredible year of growth, learning, and healing it’s been!
Not only that Holistic House have won their second award in two years of being open as best Health and Wellbeing business in Skipton!!
To celebrate these milestones and to share some of the powerful new tools I’ve brought home, I’m offering a little thank-you to anyone who comes to visit Holistic House in the New Year.
Book any session in January or February and you’ll receive a complimentary 15-minute add-on to try out some of the new techniques I’ve learnt.
This journey wasn’t just for me, it was for you, too.
I’m returning home inspired to support you in deeper, more intuitive ways. Whether you’re navigating pain, stress, or just looking to reconnect with your body, I’m excited to offer an expanded approach that creates more space for ease, flow, and relief.
Here’s to healing, adventure, connection, and the landscapes, both inner and outer, that guide us toward transformation.
Warmly,
Stephanie
