Henna Mehndi Art with Roshni
with Roshni Maher
Roshni is back at Holistic House!
She will be offering her beautiful henna art, unique to each person.
Mehndi is a form of temporary body art that is painted onto the skin using henna. Henna can also be used to dye hair, nails, and fabrics and is derived from a plant to create a rich and temporary lasting colour. This type of body art originated originally in Ancient Egypt but became a thing to use on the skin in India. In India, it is a tradition to paint brides hands and feet in Mehndi for the wedding ceremony. Mehndi is also used to celebrate Hindu festivals such as Diwali, Karva Chauth, Vat Purnima and many more.
FAQ’s
Do you use brown or black henna?
Roshni only uses natural, organic brown henna. What is the process?
Roshni will discuss a design with you from three different sizes.
She applies the henna using a cone to apply the paste, drawing intricate patterns on your skin. As the paste dries, the henna turns dark brown and hardens.
Once the henna is completely dry, it will start to flake off. You can then scrape off the dried henna. Leaving the henna on your skin for 4-8hrs will result in deeper, darker colour.
The henna will darken over the next 24 hours, leaving you with a beautiful temporary died pattern on your skin.
The depth of color depends on your skin - everybody will be unique. How long does it stay on?
Henna stays on the skin for 7-14 days on average.
It begins to fade naturally with time. Can anyone use henna?
