Alan Blighe - Hatha Yoga
I offer a traditional yoga practice, influenced by the Sivananda and Satyananda traditions. The class includes a short, flowing warm-up, followed by a sequence of still postures, breathing exercises and a final guided relaxation. While it makes use of our natural strength and flexibility, the focus of my teaching is on developing awareness of the peace and stillness at the heart of Yoga. I aim to share yoga in a truly accessible way – inclusive of age, health, neurotype, gender expression, and so on.
If you have any concerns about the practice, please feel free to get in touch with me.
About me:
Originally from Ireland, Alan took up yoga in 1999 after several years practicing Soto Zen meditation. His teacher encouraged him to train as a yoga teacher in 2005, so that he could take over her classes during an extended break. He then taught full-time for a number of years, before transitioning to part-time teaching while completing a PhD in neuroscience. Since then he has continued to teach, while balancing a career in healthcare research and innovation. As a yogi, scientist, autistic person and father, Alan is conscious of the multiple identities we carry in our lives. In his teaching he seeks to help students explore the peace that underlies these surface level appearances.
